Why This Site Exists
Athens does not use separate city and county record systems in the usual way. The consolidated Athens-Clarke County government handles many administrative records, yet the Clerk of Superior & State Courts keeps deeds and court files, Probate Court keeps estates and marriage licenses, and state offices maintain other records. The Tax Assessor, Elections Department, business registry, licensing boards, and Athens-Clarke County Library Heritage Room add more routes. We organize those search tools, office contacts, and access rules in one reference.
